SWEENY BLOCK

10156-10158 DONNER PASS ROAD - TRUCKEE TRAIN & TOY:
This two-story brick building is one of the oldest on the Sweeny Block of Commercial Row. It was built by Jack Wohlert in the 1920s after a fire destroyed the Donner Garage. It was once a post office and later, Tahoe National Bank. It was later purchased by Grace Robertson who converted its use into retail shops. The upstairs portion has been remodeled into a family residence for the present owner.

10178 DONNER PASS ROAD - COTTAGE HOTEL:
This hotel was built in the 1920s as a boarding house and has served the downtown area as a hotel for many years.

10188 DONNER PASS ROAD - EL TORO BRAVO RESTAURANT:
This was once a private home belonging to Edith Fay and before that it was the home of Dr. Joseph Bernard, the town's physician, who frequently delivered babies in one of the present dining rooms. It dates back to the 1890s when it was built as a home for the Rosserini family.
