SOUTH-EAST RIVER STREET

Chinese Herb Shop:
Presently occupied by McCarthy Sign Company, this building is built of brick with double iron doors on the side and rear. From the 1890's to the 1960's, this building served as a bottling works operated by the Englehart family who supplied soft drinks, such as Coca Cola, to the area. The building was constructed in 1878 by Chinese residents and it is the last remaining building in what was once Chinatown.
